Racing to Save Lives
Connie Clark"From Couch Potato"To Marathon Runner
I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member ofThe Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. Allof us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
When I first told my daughter I was going to do this, she said "but you don't run". Well I do NOW! I started running this past Wednesday for 2 miles, walked 6 miles yesterday and just finished 4 miles with the TNT team this morning. It WAS difficult, but very rewarding to know I was doing this for the real heroes we believe in. I am motivatied! I don't give up and I am confident the team and support from them is what will help me succeed. After today's run I received a supportive email from my mentor and a phone call from my team member that recruited me. What more can I ask for?
Stay tuned and check for updates as I train for the marathon in San Diego on May 31, 2009.Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission http://pages.teamintraining.org/sc/rnr09/cclarkmqu5
